UMW INTRODUCES “COFFEE PROJECT”
The Administrative Council has approved a proposal by the United Methodist Women to support UMCOR’s “Coffee Project.” UMCOR (UM Committee on Relief) is in partnership with Equal Exchange, a 100% fair trade worker-owner cooperative. Through it, churches and individuals can help small farmers in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the U.S. earn a fairer share of income, obtain access to credit and technical support and gain a trading partner they can trust.
St. Paul’s will be dispensing with the use of styrofoam cups which are not recyclable and begin purchasing paper cups through this program.
**Fair trade coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, organic sugar and other items are also available for purchase by individual. Orders may be placed online at http:/interfaith.equalexchange.com
All women of the church are invited to participate in UMW, and newly retired women who are not yet members are encouraged to become involved.
The St. Paul’s Unit of United Methodist Women meets each second Tuesday at 1:30 P.M. in the church parlor. Women of the church who are not yet UMW members should just come to the next meeting to see what it’s all about!
